"Al-Bab" 알밥 = Tobiko Rice???

Have you heard of the famous “Al-bab” restaurant near the Hanyang campus? The Nobel “Al-bab”. This is the place where almost every Hanyang student likes to have their meal, because it is cheap. All menus are 3000 won only. The food is also quickly prepared, and of course, most importantly it is delicious! It is definitely an ideal meal for students living on a tight budget.

There are 7 flavors for you to pick from the menu.
1. Non-spicy
2. A little bit spicy.
3. Spicy.
4. Very spicy. TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!
5. Curry flavor.
6. Jjajang (Black Sauce) flavor
7. Bulbab (Ham and seafood)

I would recommend the first or the second from the menu for those who can’t really have spicy food and even for those who think they can eat spicy food, try the very spicy one if you dare.

This is how it looks like when it is served. As you can see, the main ingredients are the tobiko and egg. That is where the “Al-bab” gets its name from. There is also pork and some vegetables in it.

Some of you might not know the right way to eat this. So, when you get your bowl of “Al-bab”, take a spoon and just start mixing everything in the bowl and Voila! The tasty “Al-bab” is ready to be eaten.

NEED TO KNOW:

Getting there from Hanyang University:
5~10 minutes walk towards Wangshimri from the campus main gate. Enter the first lane beside the KB Star ATM machines

Cost per meal: 3000 won ONLY.

When to go: The best time to go is when you are on tight budget and you are craving for a good proper meal.

A friendly reminder: Your stomach might get upset if you dare to take on the very spicy “Al-bab”. Pick the menu without the chili symbol if you cannot eat spicy food!

"Al-bab". The “Al” stands for Tobiko, and the “Bab” stands for rice.
